If you wake up feeling tired, stiff an have body aches, you may be sleeping with poor sleeping posture. Some people may think that it is normal to wake up and feel this way, after all, you’ve been laying down for 8 hours. The fact is that you should not wake up with any pain, and sleeping posture is suspect.
You have to think about it like this, imagine staying in one position all day (an awkward position) for 8 hours. It may seem like you couldn’t even manage to stay in that position just for a little while, imagine how your body feels when you’ve laid down for a nights rest for 8 full hours.
There are a few things you can do to help improve your sleeping posture such as:
Picking out a good mattress. The mattress that you sleep on should be firm and at the same time be comfortable. Yes, you need to shop around to get something that you believe is balanced perfectly for your body. Some people have had a lot of success with the sleep number beds. Most overlooked, seriously is your pillow.
Many of us just grab a pillow from the store that feels comfortable when we press our hands into it and throw it into the shopping cart. You really need to go to a store where you can try it out. Remember that a pillow that is too thick is as worse as having a pillow that is too thin.
Again, balance is the key.One problem I personally dealt with was sleeping on my arm. I used to sleep on my stomach and use my arm as a pillow. This continued until one day I woke up and my whole arm was numb. The first thing I thought was that I was going to have or having a heart attack because of the numbness.I ended up going to the emergency room and finding out that I had a pinched nerve. Resting your head on your arm is a sure way to cut off circulation and/or pinch a nerve. It seems simple.
The truth is that proper sleeping posture is obtainable. Unfortunately the key is finding beds and pillows that are suited to your personal needs, just right and a perfect balance.
